National Library of Sweden Hosts Landmark Conference on Digital Knowledge & Copyright

In early September, the National Library of Sweden proudly hosted the Digital Knowledge – the Library and Copyright in a Global Digital Economy" conference, bringing together over 30 distinguished panelists and a wide range of participants from various sectors. The event was organized in collaboration with the Swedish Intellectual Property Office (PRV) and the Stockholm Centre for Commercial Law at Stockholm University's Law Faculty.

Participants included key representatives from the European Commission’s DG CNECT, WIPO, IFRRO, national intellectual property offices, and prominent national libraries from Norway, Finland, Hungary, Denmark, and Sweden, along with several ministries of culture. Discussions focused on critical issues at the intersection of digital knowledge, copyright and cross-border information access. An expert consultant, currently leading a European Commission study on copyright for remote research and education, also joined to share insights from ongoing research.

On Day 2, EODOPEN took center stage, featuring a session on enhancing cross-border access to library resources. The session emphasized the essential role of libraries in expanding international access to knowledge.
