EODOPEN Project Concludes with Final Joint Meeting in Tartu
On October 10-11, 2024, the EOD network and EODOPEN project teams gathered for a final joint meeting in Tartu, Estonia, hosted by the University of Tartu Library. This two-day event marked the culmination of an inspiring collaboration dedicated to enhancing digital accessibility and service delivery in libraries across Europe.
The meeting opened with a warm welcome from the project leaders, followed by insightful presentations and updates from various workgroups:
Development, Communication, and Dissemination: Discussions focused on engaging broader audiences and maximizing the impact of EODOPEN’s resources. The team also presented a new video summarizing key project achievements, providing a dynamic visual celebration of these shared milestones.
Project Achievements Demo: A special infographic was showcased, highlighting key outcomes from the EODOPEN project, along with innovative formats designed for delivering digitized materials to users with special needs.
Clearance Tools: Updates were shared on essential tools for assessing and documenting rights clearance, ensuring digital content remains accessible while respecting intellectual property rights.
Day 1 concluded with an enlightening presentation on Tartu’s role as the 2024 European Capital of Culture, followed by a city tour and a social dinner, where participants had the opportunity to connect and reflect on their shared achievements in a vibrant, welcoming setting.
Day 2 began with a talk on the role of language data in future research infrastructure, followed by a demonstration of new tools in semantic search and the latest version of the common portal’s front end for digital libraries.
The meeting concluded with a forward-looking discussion on potential future projects, inspiring attendees to explore new initiatives to build upon EODOPEN’s successes. This was followed by an annual update on EOD and ODM services.
